msn-pecan software package provides alternative MSN protocol plug-in for libpurple, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install msn-pecan
msn-pecan is installed in your system.
Make ensure the msn-pecan package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep msn-pecan *
You will get with msn-pecan package name, version, architecture and description in a table
